-
Whole Body
Your body parts don’t function in isolation, and neither should your healthcare. By focusing on whole-body, whole-person care rather than one particular symptom or disease process, we deliver connected care that considers the interplay of your mental, physical, and spiritual health.
-
Patient led
Research shows you’ll have better outcomes the more involved you are in your care. At Kyndred, you are the expert on you. Our providers are experts in their respective fields and are there to empower you with the information you need to make decisions that align with your values, lifestyle, and goals. By breaking down the typical power dynamics in healthcare, we ensure your voice leads the way—fostering trust, better communication, and care that truly works for you
-
Pleasure-based
Sexual health and wellness should be about more than just preventing disease or managing dysfunction. We take a pleasure-based approach to health, rooted in sex positivity and body positivity. This means recognizing that joy, pleasure, and comfort in one's body are essential aspects of overall wellness, especially for Black women who have historically been marginalized and pathologized within healthcare. We focus on offering care that affirms sexual and reproductive autonomy, helping you feel empowered to explore your body and desires without shame.
-
Root Cause
Our approach focuses on treating the underlying causes of symptoms, not just surface-level issues. By combining root cause medicine with an anti-racist, intersectional framework, we consider factors like epigenetics, the legacy of slavery, racialized trauma, and social determinants of health. Our integrative care model brings together expertise from physical, mental, nutritional, and community-based support, blending medical and complementary therapies to deliver personalized, long-term care plans for our community.
-
Science-backed
We are committed to providing science-backed, evidence-based care, guided by respected organizations and celebrated as the gold standard in clinical care. Because most healthcare was not designed by or for us, we’ve taken a step further to base our care in research specifically with the Black community in mind whenever possible. By reframing traditional protocols through a race-conscious, intersectional lens, we address the unique needs and lived experiences of Black women, ensuring our care is both medically sound and culturally responsive.
-
Race-concordant care
We know that feeling truly seen and understood in your healthcare is essential to your well-being. That’s why we prioritize race-concordant care—connecting you with providers who share your racial background and cultural experiences. Studies consistently show that Black patients experience better health outcomes when they work with healthcare providers who are culturally aligned with their identity, and understand the specific challenges, values, and cultural nuances that shape their health. By embracing race-concordant care, we help foster stronger relationships, better communication, and a more empathetic and empowering healthcare experience—ultimately ensuring that your care is as effective, authentic, and supportive as possible.

FAQS
-
What is the mission of Kimbritive’s Kyndred Care? Why do you exist?
Kyndred exists to transform the healthcare landscape for Black women where traditional systems have failed.
Systemic racism, historical neglect, and a lack of culturally relevant care have created deep disparities, leaving Black women vulnerable to poorer sexual and reproductive health outcomes.
-
Why Focus on Black Women?
Black women were foundational in building the obstetric and gynecologic fields of practice in the United States.
The legacies of the “Mothers of Gynecology”, Anarcha, Betsey, and Lucy, who were enslaved women whose bodies were exploited and experimented on, revolutionized surgical treatments for women. Furthermore, Black women experience significant systemic racism, sexism, and implicit bias in the social support, wellness, and healthcare industry that have devastating impacts on Black women's health outcomes
-
And When You Say Black Women, You Mean...?
We’re talking to all our people—cis Black women, trans Black women, femmes, non-binary kin—if you roll with us, we roll with you.
And when we say Black, we mean Black, all across the diaspora. You could be an Afro-Dominican mamí from Washington Heights, a Creole baddie from the N.O., a Naija queen from Lagos, a Trini gyal from Port of Spain, or a Black Brit from Brixton—we see you, we love you, and we got you. This space is for all of us.
-
What makes a Kyndred provider different?
At Kyndred, our providers are trained using the ALI™ (Anti-Racism, Liberation, and Intersectionality) model, which ensures that every clinician practices care rooted in principles of justice and equity.
This approach integrates anti-racism, reproductive justice, and gender-expansive care, while emphasizing a collaborative, patient-centered approach. Our model encourages clinicians to engage in self-reflection and community-centered work, fostering both their well-being and the well-being of the patients they serve. The result is a care team that is not only highly skilled but deeply committed to supporting your holistic health journey, grounded in respect, empathy, and social justice.
-
What is race concordance, and why does it matter?
Structural and individual racism has been identified as risk factors for poor sexual, reproductive, and maternal outcomes for Black women. Furthermore, a history of medical experimentation, coercion, and mistreatment of Black women has fueled their mistrust of the medical system. In one study, Black participants felt that increasing the prevalence and presence of Black medical professionals could reduce individual racism within the medical system.
Further, participants in this study perceived Black providers as more trustworthy, empathetic, and knowledgeable about Black women’s life circumstances and reproductive health concerns. Studies show provider-patient racial concordance can lead to longer, more satisfying patient visits , improved medication adherence , better reproductive health outcomes , reduced infant mortality , and a higher likelihood of using preventive services. In another study, Black women described receiving “inadequate medical care” as a lack of culturally competent providers and staff with skills to provide optimal care for Black women .

How does virtual care compare to in-person visits?
When it comes to your health, we know that quality and convenience matters. Virtual care with Kyndred gives you the flexibility to access the care you need from the comfort of your own home—without the hassle of traveling or taking time off.
You’ll still get the same high-quality, culturally competent care from our team—whether you’re addressing sexual wellness, reproductive health, or mental health concerns—no matter where you are. And if you have questions or need follow-up, virtual care allows you to stay connected with your Kyndred team seamlessly.
-
Don't I need a pelvic exam for gynecological care?
The short answer: Probably not.
In most cases, 90% of patients can have their symptoms managed without a pelvic exam. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), in-person pelvic exams are only necessary when specific symptoms or medical history indicate the need for one.1. We’ll review your symptoms and medical history together to determine if a pelvic exam is essential for your care.
2. If it’s needed, our care coordinators aka your healthcare homegirl, will connect you with a pre-vetted partner who specializes in caring for Black women and understands how to meet your needs with the respect and expertise you deserve.
After empowering you with all the information you need to make the best possible decision, the final yes or no is yours. Our care is always patient led, ensuring you feel safe, seen, and in control of your care every step of the way. -
How do I pay for care at Kyndred?
At Kyndred, we offer flexible payment options designed to fit your needs and simplify access to care. Our bundled membership packages allow you to pay monthly or annually, covering essential services like wellness checkups, reproductive health consultations, and mental health support. These upfront packages often reduce costs compared to traditional insurance pathways, where the system’s inefficiencies can lead to higher expenses and limited care.
We aim to break away from the constraints of fee-for-service models by focusing on personalized, preventative care that prioritizes your long-term well-being. As part of our commitment to expanding access, we are working to accept Medicaid, private, and commercial insurance in the future—ensuring more Black women can benefit from our community-centered care.
-
Is Kyndred a venture-backed health company?
Not yet. We’re building Kyndred without traditional venture capital funding because the truth is stark: only 2% of venture capital funding goes to women-led startups, and even less is directed toward Black women.
Women’s health, especially for Black women, has been grossly underfunded, and we refuse to be sidelined. By choosing this path, we maintain our autonomy and ensure that our values drive our decisions. This isn’t just about creating a business; it’s about reshaping the narrative and prioritizing our community’s needs over external investors' interests. We are unapologetically committed to building a sustainable model that empowers Black women and redefines healthcare for us.
